TOURISM on Loch Lomondside will play a pivotal role in supporting the Scottish economy through the next two years.
That was the message from Dr Mike Cantlay, Convener of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority last week.
Dr Cantlay told the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions annual meeting in Dunblane that the country’s tourist attractions, including the bonnie banks, were crucial at a time of global economic downturn.
He said that as a result of the significant devaluation of the pound, Scotland should benefit from a large upturn in Brits holidaying at home over the next couple of years.
“There are always winners and losers in tough times like these, and my view is that Scottish tourism is in a prime position to capitalise as foreign competitors struggle to provide value for recession weary holiday makers,” he said.
