New book on Faslane action

A BOOK chronicling 365 days of anti-nuclear action at Faslane Naval Base has been published.

Between October 2006 and 2007, 131 blockading groups protested outside the gates of the Trident submarine base.

The book, Faslane 365, brings together a diverse selection of writings, academic and anecdotal, from and about the epic blockade which saw 1150 arrests and cost millions of pounds to police.

Edited by well known peace activist Angie Zelter, it outlines the commitment of people of all walks of life, including doctors, lawyers, health professionals and grannies to voice their objection to nuclear weapons.

Described as a fascinating and inspirational read, it examines the political, environmental and ethical implications of Trident and the impact the protest had on the international anti nuclear community.

The book can be ordered via the website of Trident Ploughshares which helped organise the protest.

A poster featuring banners and photos of actions during Faslane 365 is also now available.
