Steps to claw back crime cash from Helensburgh man

THE first step towards stripping a Helensburgh man of cash made through a massive counterfeit business took place last week.

John Croy, 61, was jailed for three years in July after a police raid uncovered £400,000 worth of fake CDs and DVDs, together with copying equipment at his home in Nursery Street.

The confiscation hearing, at Dumbarton Sheriff Court, was continued to November 12.

Ex-Navyman Croy, dubbed Britain’s biggest ever domestic CD and DVD pirate, is disputing the amount the Crown is claiming from the proceeds of his crime.
