AN Alexandria mum has launched an epilepsy support group.
Tracy Shaw, 41, was diagnosed with epilepsy in her late teens and wants to help others with similar experiences.
She has launched the West Dunbartonshire Epilepsy Support group which will meet this Thursday between 10am and 11.30am at the community centre on Main Street, Alexandria.
People with epilepsy and their family and friends are invited along to find out more about the condition and share experiences.
While pregnant with her daughter, Tracy’s seizures stopped.
On meeting another mum with epilepsy at a parent and toddler group when her daughter was six months old, she decided to set up the support group for the condition.
And her own symptoms returned when her child was 14 months old.
Tracy said: “The woman didn’t have any family locally and found things difficult.
“When she wasn’t well she didn’t have any support.”
More information is available by calling Tracy on 01389 606583.
Otherwise, you can go along to the meeting on Thursday.
The West Dunbartonshire Epilepsy Support group is assisted by the council’s community work unit.
