Helpless man assaulted and robbed in Dumbarton High Street

POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a 38-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in Dumbarton High Street last Tuesday morning.

The incident, in which the victim’s wallet was stolen, happened around 11am near to the former Woolworths store and involved a group of men.

Two of the suspects are described as being white males, approximately 45 to 49 years of age, and around 5ft 11ins in height. One was described as heavily built with reddish hair, and the other was stocky and was wearing a dark-coloured sleeveless jacket.

Another two were also white males, one around 5ft 7in, with reddish hair, thinly-built and wearing a light-coloured jacket. The other was described as being around 5ft 11in and slim.

There is no description of the other men involved.

Police are asking members of the public who were in the High Street area on the morning or early afternoon who may have witnessed this assault and theft or seen anyone fitting these descriptions to contact them at Dumbarton CID on 01389 822000.
