Teen diced with death on A82 at Dumbarton

A TEENAGE girl strolled down the middle of a busy carriageway in Dumbarton while high on drink and drugs.

Motorists were forced to brake and swerve to avoid Kari Jamieson, who was swearing and gesturing at drivers while stumbling along the road with a pal.

The incident occurred on the A82 stretch next to Dumbarton police office on June 3.

Jamieson, 18, of Muir Road in Bellsmyre, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week and admitted committing a breach of the peace, as well as carrying a knife in her bra and damaging a mattress in a Clydebank police cell thesame night.

Fiscal depute Diane McConnell told the court: “At 8.30pm a motorist was travelling on the A82 close to Dumbarton police office when he suddenly saw the accused in the company of another female walking in the roadway. He had to brake suddenly and swerve to avoid the accused and her companion.

“He sounded his horn and this caught the attention of police officers.”

The fiscal depute explained that Jamieson and her pal continued to stroll down the middle of the road while “gesticulating” to other drivers, who were also forced to swerve.

Police arrested Jamieson and, after being searched at Clydebank police office, she was found to be in possession of a blade.

Defence lawyer Scott Adair said: “She has very, very little recollection of events because of the influence of drugs and it’s fair to say there was also drink involved as well.

“She has no idea where that implement (knife) came from.

“It was hidden in her bra and she came across it when she started to sober up.”

Sheriff Shirley Foran ordered Jamieson to carry out 80 hours of community service and put her on probation for a year.
