Alexandria water upgrade is completed

ALMOST 20,000 customers in West Dunbartonshire are enjoying clearer drinking water following the completion of a major upgrade at a treatment works.

Scottish Water has just completed a £400,000 improvement of the Overton Alexandria works, which serves customers in the Alexandria, Vale of Leven, and Bonhill areas.

The upgrade is also providing better quality water to people in the Cardross area.

Chris Toop, Scottish Water’s regional manager, said: “We are delighted to have completed this important upgrade of our water treatment works at Alexandria.

“The project at the works, which is a key part of our 2010 Vision for West Dunbartonshire, is an example of how Scottish Water is delivering massive benefits to communities across Scotland.”

Project manager Deborah Cormack said the scheme caused no disruption to the supply or to traffic in the area.

She added: “We are very pleased to have significantly improved our services to customers in the area.”
