DUMBARTON FC is one of Scotland's best run football clubs and one that the good people of the town should be proud of.
In Strathclyde Homes Stadium, our community benefits from a fit for purpose facility, slap bang in the heart of our historic town.
Two fantastic function suites at the stadium, vital to generating additional income outwith football activity, are complimented by easy access as anyone looking for the famous landmark of Dumbarton Rock will testify.
And on the park – the important bit – we have a team working as it should, experienced players augmented by local talent from the (now) successful youth system.
As a former chairman of the excellent Sons Supporters Trust, the emergence of players like Martin McNiff, Richie McKillen and Alan Cook is a source of great satisfaction, as it was the trust who kick started the youth development initiative with a five figure investment just six years ago.
As the club makes sure and steady progress, it's a real testament to the power of being at the centre of the community and being run prudently.
No harem-scarem investment in projects that have seen the death knell being rung at other clubs in the Scottish game, most notably that of Rangers and of course at Livingston, where it's easier to draw parallels.
The fans of Dumbarton have been instrumental in ensuring that the aforementioned evolution has checks and balances. Long may it continue into the foreseeable future.
