New academy is an SNP priority

LAST week Jackie Baillie made yet another claim that the SNP were doing nothing about Dumbarton Academy – this is utter rubbish.

I could go back over the history of this, and how Labour failures of both Jackie Baillie and John McFall landed Dumbarton Academy in this position, but I am sure your readers will be already aware of this.

The SNP is and will continue to be committed to delivering a new Dumbarton Academy, a point that we have firmly made to the Scottish Government, who have actively listened.

What is sad is that all Jackie Baillie has done about Dumbarton Academy is moaned and carped. Her party has yet to bring anything constructive to the table.

Schools should not be part of the political football culture that has come to pass in West Dunbartonshire. Schools and children’s education should be above all this petty squabbling.

However working together doesn’t suit Jackie Baillie’s agenda which is just to bash the SNP.

For the SNP a new-build Dumbarton Academy is, and always will be, a top priority.
