Trying to trace Jim McClaren

I'VE been trying to locate an old comrade of mine, whom I served with in the Royal Marines Band Service (CinC Home Fleet) based at HMS Excellent on Whale Island, Portsmouth from 1968 -1970.

His name is Jim McClaren, who was brought up in Helensburgh, before he joined the RM School of Music in Deal Kent as a 14 year old in the early 60's.

His instruments were Clarinet, Tenor Sax & Violin. We spent many a happy time at Whale Island and try as I might through the Royal Marines own web sites, I have failed to locate him.

I left the Band Service in January 1970 and lost touch as often happens. (I last heard later in years, that he went on to become a Manager of the Mecca or Locarno Ballroom in Leicester. But not 100% sure if that was fact ot not?)

Perhaps by putting this message out, it may 'ring bells' with someone locally, who may just know of Jim's current whereabouts? -(Not sure if any of his relatives still reside in Helensburgh or not?)

Many thanks for your help in advance
